Question 1
Adding 42 to a given positive number gives the same result as squaring the number. Find the number

Solution:
Let the number be x
Adding 42, let us add 42 to x. This gives (42 + x)
Since this gives the same result as squaring the number, it means (42 + x) = x^2
42 + x = x^2
Rearranging the equation
x^2 – x – 42 = 0
Solving the Quadratic equation,
X= 7 or x= -6
Since we are looking for a positive number, we go for 7.
