Apple’s Laptops with M1 Chip were released in Late 2020. They’re Apple Macbook Pro (13-inch, M1, 2020) and Apple MacBook Air (13-inch, M1, Late 2020).
Today, I will be sharing my experiences and everything I know about the Apple Macbook Pro M1 and Macbook Air M1 2020. Trust Me, This is an Honest Review of the Apple Latest Laptops.
I needed a System with better CPU and GPU performance. But due to change in Apple’s processors (From Intel to M1 Chip), I was skeptical about moving from my Apple MacBook Pro 2019 (Quad-Core, Intel Core i5, 1.4Ghz – 4.0Ghz) to the 2020 Apple’s New Laptops with M1 Chip.
I read many reviews but they were too good to be true. I hardly trust reviews from Big Blogs and Top YouTube Channels because they may be doing it out of influence, preference or emotions.
One day, a friend of mine came outside the state with Apple Macbook Air, M1 Chip. He actually came for revenge. My Macbook Pro 2014 with Intel Core i7 trashed his 2017 Macbook Pro Core i5 on Geekbench Multi-Core Score.
We did a Geekbench test of Apple Macbook Air 2020, M1 Vs my Apple MacBook Pro, Core i5. The Macbook Air M1 completely destroyed Macbook Pro 2019 in both Single and Multi-Core Performance (Images Below).
My concern wasn’t the fact that the M1 Macbook Pro performed better. It was simply that the M1 Laptop made intel look so useless. Apart from Performace, the Macbook Air with M1 Chip has a better Display And Keyboard than the Macbook Pro 2019.
What is Geekbench? Geekbench is Software for measuring CPU performance. Download Geekbench 5 for free and use it to check your Laptop Performance (Works for Windows & Mac). Compare the results with the ones I have shared below.
Back to the Present. I was able to buy the MacBook Pro M1, 2020 and Macbook Air 2020 to ease my Rapid Video Production. After using these Laptops, it is time to share my thoughts.

Macbooks With M1 Performance & Battery Life
The Macbook Pro and Macbook Air 2020 deliver an extraordinary combination of super-fast performance and super long battery life. Performance is A1, Cooling System is A1 and Battery Life is A1.
- The M1 Chip MacBooks are very fast.
- Macbooks with M1 hardly heat up under heavy performance.
- The M1 Chip Macbooks battery can last more than one day under normal use.
I charge my Laptops every two days and neither of them has heated up a single time since I got them. In fact, the Macbook Air without a fan doesn’t heat up while the Macbook Pro M1 with Fans doesn’t even feel the need to use fans.
The Macbook Pro M1’s ability to handle heavy tasks without performance drop or heating should be studied in Harvard.
- Apple Macbooks with M1 are fast for Video Exporting
- Macbooks with M1 are very good for programming
- Apple Macbooks with M1 can be used for Gaming.
- It took me 17 Minutes to Export 37 Minutes of 1080p Video Using Filmora Video Editor.
- Difference in video exporting speed between the M1 Macbook Pro and Air is negligible .
The Apple Macbook Pro and Air with M1 Chip are faster than Asus ZenBook 13’s and Dell XPS. Both of these Laptops are 11th Generation Intel Core i7 CPUs. The M1 Apple Macbook Pro also performed better than Intel Core i9-9880H in Geekbench.
Is Macbook Pro With M1 Faster Than Air?
For the first time, Apple decided to use the same CPU for the Macbook Pro and Macbook Air. This implies that the Apple Macbook Pro and Air will have the same performance.
For the GPU, While Macbook Pro comes with 8-Core GPU, the Air simply has a 7-Core GPU. These are simply on paper because you won’t notice major performance differences between the Air and Pro in real life.
Should I Buy Macbook Pro With M1 Or Air?
Whether you should go with the Macbook Pro M1 or Macbook Air M1 depends on 5 minor factors (depending on how you see them):
1. The Macbook Pro comes with TouchBar while air doesn’t have Touchbar.
If you are not a fan of Touchbar or can simply do without it, then you are good to go with the Air.
2. The Macbook Pro comes with Fan so that performance doesn’t get sacrificed for stability under extremely heavy use. However, the air doesn’t come with fan.
You need to be an extremely heavy user to get to this usage and performance level.
3. The Macbook Pro has an 8-Core GPU while the air has a 7-Core GPU. This implies that, in theory, the Macbook Pro M1, 2021 will have a better Graphics performance.
4. The Macbook Pro comes with faster charger and a bigger battery. For me, the Macbook Air battery life is as decent as the Pro, if not better.
5. The Macbook Pro 2020, With M1 Chip is very much expensive than the Air. If you are on a tight budget, simply go with the air. You won’t have anything to regret.
