Centerbility of Maryland, Inc., a US-based nonprofit organisation, has invited first-year Medical and Nursing students in Nigeria to take part in a solution-focused essay competition. The contest centres on disability inclusion and economic empowerment; it asks students to write on one of three listed topics.
The competition is open to eligible 100 Level students who meet the stated conditions and submit an essay in the required format.
Essay topics
Applicants are to write on one of these topics:
- Creating Employment Pathways for People with Disabilities in Nigeria
- How Nigeria Can Improve Access to Care and Opportunities for People Living with Disabilities
- Improving Early Diagnosis, Intervention, and Support Systems for Autism in Africa
Eligibility requirements
To be considered, an applicant must meet all stated conditions.
Who can apply
The applicant must be:
- A current 100 Level, first-year student
- Enrolled in a Medical or Nursing programme
- Aged 16 years or older
Essay submission rules
The essay must:
- Be 1,000 words
- Be original
- Follow APA, 7th Edition, referencing
Prizes for winners
Centerbility has listed five prize positions for the competition.
- Winner: N250,000
- Runner-up: N150,000
- Third place: N100,000
- Fourth place: N50,000
- Fifth place: N30,000

The deadline for submission is 8 May 2026. Students who want to enter this Essay competition need to complete their submission on or before that date.
