It is no longer news that the global pandemic COVID-19 has altered a lot of schedules and distorted a lot of plans. Many countries are imposing much-needed restrictions to slow the spread of the Virus. But these restrictions are also causing unprecedented disruption for students.

Already, 400 million students are impacted, and colleges and universities are working hard to find solutions. You could either see this as a disaster or an opportunity to further prepare yourself to fulfill that dream of studying abroad. Perspective!
According to a famous author, “every negative event carries within it the seed of an equal or greater benefit.” The truth is some people will come out of this cycle broken and devastated due to failed dreams and missed opportunities.
Others would strategically position themselves and come out as victors and champions. We want you to be a part of the latter rather than the former and we are sure you really do too. As your trusted ally, we offer the following advice to weather this period and position yourself for the time that normalcy will be restored.
OUR CURRENT SITUATION
The Pandemic is really hitting countries of the world hard. Travel bans are been evoked, limits are been placed on social/religious gatherings. Workers are being asked to stay and work from home. These all points to the fact that the virus has interrupted a lot of plans. What is paramount right now are how lives can be preserved.
Everything else has to be placed on hold and unfortunately, that includes your travel abroad plan to your new institution of learning. What this means is that if you are scheduled to join the May intake then the most logical thing to do now is to defer your admission till September or even next academic session.
Most country’s imposition of the travel ban would definitely restrict international students from gaining entry into their country of study. Also, most institutions have commenced online-learning, hence you can participate from anywhere you are in the world.
WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS
For now, nothing is certain. No one knows how long this situation would last so we can’t be sure of anything yet. However, there are things that can be done. Also, we cannot rule out the fact that things can normalize faster than we anticipated.
A cure could be developed, a vaccine discovered or countries find a way to stop and control the spread. Therefore there would be no harm in applying for the September intake. If admission is secured you’d be among those who will resume if the current condition has improved, if not you can defer your admission.

In addition, it is important in this critical period that you keep in touch with your Institution of Study and their trusted agent to be able to get up-to-date news and information.
