The Federal College of Fisheries and Marine Technology (FCFMT) HND admission form for2023/2024 academic session is out and applications are now being invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into any of the following Higher National Diploma (HND) programs as seen below just before the application procedure.

Overview of HND Programmes at FCFMT

Fisheries Technology

This specialized program aims to groom candidates into proficient Fisheries Technologists capable of taking on leadership roles in commercial fish farming, and marine fisheries, as well as the processing, preservation, and marketing of fish and aquatic animals.

Maritime Transport and Business Management

This curriculum is meticulously crafted to train students in administrative and managerial aspects pertinent to ports and shipping operations. Graduates of this program are well-equipped to excel in the maritime sector and related industries.

Marine Engineering

The Marine Engineering HND program is designed to impart both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in engineering design practice, planning, management, operation, and maintenance of marine engineering systems suitable for a technician role.

Nautical Science

The Nautical Science HND course offers comprehensive training in seamanship, chart work, collision prevention, navigation, bridge equipment and watchkeeping, cargo handling and stowage, ship stability, elementary naval architecture, meteorology, marine signaling, ship maintenance, and operations.

Admission Requirements for HND Programmes at FCFMT

Maritime Transport and Business Management

  • Duration: 2 years (four semesters)
  • Prerequisites:
    • A National Diploma from a recognized, NBTE-accredited institution with at least Lower Credit in relevant courses.
    • Five Ordinary Level credit passes in SSCE/GCE/NECO/NABTEB in subjects including Mathematics and English.
    • Evidence of completion of Post-National Diploma Industrial Training with at least one year of experience.

Fisheries Technology

  • Duration: 2 years (four semesters)
  • Prerequisites:
    • National Diploma with at least Lower Credit in relevant courses from a recognized, NBTE-accredited institution.
    • Five Ordinary Level credit passes in Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology/Agricultural Science, English Language, and one other subject.
    • Completion of Post-National Diploma Industrial Training with at least one year of experience.

Marine Engineering

  • Duration: 2 years (four semesters)
  • Prerequisites:
    • National Diploma with Lower Credit in relevant discipline from a recognized, NBTE-accredited institution.
    • Five Ordinary Level credit passes in subjects like English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and an additional subject.
    • Completion of one year of Industrial Training.

Nautical Science

  • Duration: 2 years (four semesters)
  • Prerequisites:
    • National Diploma in a relevant discipline from a recognized, NBTE-accredited institution.
    • Five Ordinary Level credit passes in subjects including English, Mathematics, Physics, Geography, and one more relevant subject.
    • Completion of one year of Industrial Training.
