FUGUSAU Postgraduate Admissions Program 2023/2024

The esteemed Federal University Gusau (FUGUSAU) announces the sale of application forms for its Postgraduate School. Aspiring candidates can apply for POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA (PGD), MASTER, and Ph.D. PROGRAMMES for the forthcoming 2023/2024 academic year.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

1. Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)

Eligibility Criteria:

• Applicants must meet the standard matriculation prerequisites of Federal University Gusau, including a Credit Pass in Mathematics and English Language.
• Eligible candidates must possess one of the following:
  • A first degree with a minimum of third-class honors from FUGUS or another recognized institution.
  • Qualifications sanctioned by the Senate of FUGUS other than the aforementioned.
  • A Higher National Diploma (HND) with a Pass or higher in relevant areas from an accredited institution.

Study Duration:

• Full Time: 12 – 18 months
• Part-Time: 18 – 24 months

Extensions might be possible under special circumstances, based on recommendations from the respective Faculty and Postgraduate School Board.

Graduation Requirements:

To attain a Postgraduate Diploma from FUGUS, a student must:

• Fulfill all requirements set by the Postgraduate School.
• Pass all mandated written examinations.
• Complete and submit a research project.

2. Masters

Eligibility Criteria:

• Aspiring candidates should meet the university’s foundational matriculation criteria, which include a Credit Pass in both Mathematics and English Language.
• An applicant should possess one of the following qualifications:
  • A first degree with at least a second-class honor from FUGUS or a recognized institution.
  • Other qualifications endorsed by the Senate of FUGUS.
  • Third-class degree or HND holders, alongside University PGD with a CGPA of 3.0/5.00, might be considered for certain academic master’s programs.

Study Duration:

• Full Time: 18 – 24 months
• Part-Time: 24 – 36 months

Graduation Requirements:

For the acquisition of a Master’s Degree from FUGUS, candidates must:

• Meet all prerequisites of the Postgraduate School.
• Successfully pass all compulsory written exams.
• Clear an oral examination or viva voce centered on their research area.

3. PhD Programmes

Eligibility Criteria:

• All candidates interested in M.Phil and Ph.D. programs must adhere to the foundational matriculation requirements of FUGUS, encompassing a Credit Pass in Mathematics and English.
• A prospective student should have:
  • A Master’s degree with a CGPA of at least 3.5 on a 5-point scale from FUGUS or a recognized institution.
  • Qualifications other than the above, ratified by the Senate of FUGUS.

Study Duration:

• Full Time: 24 – 48 months
• Part-Time: 48 – 60 months

Extensions may be possible, subject to the recommendations from the corresponding Faculty and Postgraduate School Board.

Graduation Requirements:

For the conferment of a PhD Degree from FUGUS, aspirants must:

• Abide by all stipulations of the Postgraduate School.
• Pass every designated written examination.
• Clear an oral test or viva voce regarding their specific research domain.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Application forms can be procured online for a non-refundable fee of ₦15,000.

Application Steps:

1. Visit FUGUS’s Postgraduate Portal
2. Click on ‘APPLY’ and follow the prompts to generate a REMITA payment invoice.
3. Either:
   • Print the invoice and make payment at the bank.
   • Opt for the online payment method offered by REMITA.
4. Use the RRR on the invoice as both your USERNAME and PASSWORD to log in.
5. Once the payment is successfully validated, an application form will appear. Fill it out and submit it.
6. Monitor your account regularly for updates on admission status and print the admission letter upon successful admission.
