The Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, has recently announced a significant update regarding the convocation fee for its graduating students. This adjustment is crucial for those who are preparing to mark the culmination of their academic journey at this esteemed institution.

Introduction to the New Convocation Fee Structure

In a recent decision by the Polytechnic Management Committee (PMC), it has been communicated that there will be an increase in the Convocation Levy. Previously set at Six Thousand Naira (₦6,000), the fee has now been elevated to Ten Thousand Naira (₦10,000). This development is part of the institution’s ongoing efforts to enhance the convocation experience for its graduates.

Additional Approval by the 11th Governing Council

Furthermore, the 11th Governing Council has approved an additional expenditure of Two Thousand Naira (₦2,000) for the acquisition of Historical Books that chronicle the Polytechnic’s journey from 1979 to the present day. This brings the total payable amount to Twelve Thousand Naira (₦12,000), offering graduates a comprehensive package that includes:

  • Academic Gowns: To be returned within three days post-ceremony.
  • Graduation Brochure: A keepsake detailing the convocation event.
  • Historical Book (1979-Date): A newly introduced item that encapsulates the rich heritage of the Polytechnic.

Eligibility and Session Details

The revised fee structure is applicable to graduates of the 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 sessions, corresponding to graduation years 2021/2022 and 2022/2023. Specific Matriculation Numbers, starting with N/EE/20… and N/EE/21…, are earmarked for this adjustment.

Graduands from sessions prior to these specified dates are required to pay Eight Thousand Naira (₦8,000) in total, combining the original Convocation Levy with the cost for the Historical Book.

Special Note for Absentees of the Convocation Ceremony

It is important to highlight that 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 graduands who are unable to attend the Convocation Ceremony slated for March 6, 2024, will incur a demurrage fee of Ten Thousand Naira (₦10,000). This fee is levied for the storage of Certificates and Graduation Brochures.
