This initiative, championed by His Excellency Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration aims to empower talented graduates with advanced education opportunities.

Background

The scholarship program was revived in 2023, with the first batch launched in October of the same year. During this phase, 550 students were sponsored for Master’s programs in specialized fields at universities in India and Uganda. The government continues this legacy by opening applications for the second batch of this life-changing opportunity.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the scholarship, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  1. Be a recognized indigene of Kano State.
  2. Hold a First-Class Honours Degree or equivalent from a reputable university or institution.
  3. Be aged 30 years or younger for four-to-five-year degree holders or 35 years or younger for degrees exceeding five years.
  4. Demonstrate good health through a valid medical fitness certificate.
  5. Be prepared to attend a physical screening interview.
  6. Have completed the NYSC program or possess a valid exemption or exclusion certificate.
  7. Not currently benefit from any other scholarship or full sponsorship program.
  8. Submit a personal statement of approximately 500 words.
  9. Agree to the terms and conditions of the scholarship if awarded.

Candidates with disabilities and those pursuing programs that address gaps in state services will receive special consideration, provided they meet the above requirements.

Application Process

To apply for the scholarship:

  1. Complete the application form online at the Kano State Government’s Official Website.
  2. Print the completed form and attach the following documents:
    • Birth certificate
    • Indigene certificate
    • Primary school certificate
    • WASC/GCE/SSCE/NABTEB/NBAIS certificate
    • Degree certificate
    • Academic transcript
    • Medical fitness certificate
  3. Submit the hardcopy application and credentials to the Secretariat of the Screening Committee at:
    Conference Hall, Kano State Scholarships Board, No. 23 Abdullahi Bayero Way, Kano.

Deadline: Submit applications within two weeks of this advertisement.
