The Mastercard Foundation/Arizona State University Innovation and Technology Scholarship is now open for applications for the 2025 academic year.
This scholarship is fully funded and offers young African professionals the chance to pursue graduate studies in technology and innovation.
Scholarship Overview
The Mastercard Foundation and Arizona State University (ASU) have partnered to provide scholarships that will support 120 African students over five years from 2025 to 2030.
The program offers a two-year on-campus master’s degree with a focus on developing technology and innovation skills to meet the demands of the global digital economy.

Thirty scholarships will be awarded for the 2025/2026 academic year, and recipients will receive financial support and participate in leadership curriculum and mentorship activities through the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program.
Additional Opportunities
Scholars have the chance to work part-time in on-campus roles during the academic year.
Between the first and second year of study, students will take part in a two-month internship in Africa, aligning with their field of study.
Participants are expected to return to their home countries after completing the program and use their new skills to contribute to their nation’s growth.

Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the Mastercard Foundation/Arizona State University Innovation and Technology Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a citizen of an African country.
- Demonstrate leadership skills and a commitment to ethical leadership.
- Be actively engaged in community service.
- Hold an undergraduate degree by July 2025.
- Be between the ages of 18 and 33 by the application deadline.
- Meet the academic requirements for admission, including English proficiency.
- Be able to reside in Phoenix, Arizona for the duration of the program.
Application Process
To apply for the scholarship, you must first complete the scholarship application.
If selected, you will receive assistance with the application process for admission to Arizona State University.
Interviews will be conducted via phone or video call in November 2024, with final decisions announced by January 2025.
Successful applicants will join the program in August 2025 in Phoenix, Arizona.
