JAMB Subject Combination for Education and Biology
There are three (3) compulsory subjects that you are going to see in your JAMB UTME examination. It is therefore important that you score not less than 180 which is the lowest JAMB cut-off mark for this course. If you score below 180, then you wouldn’t be able to study at any University in Nigeria except through IJBM, JUBEB, ND, or Predegree. Below are the proper JAMB subjects for the course.
1). Biology and two (2) other subjects from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
WAIVER/ SPECIAL CONSIDERATION
1). EKSU accepts Agricultural Science/Biology.
2). OOU requires Mathematics and any one (1) other subject.
3). DELSU accepts Biology and one other Social Science/Arts/Science subject.
4). FUAM requires Chemistry in Mathematics and Biology.
5). IAUE requires Chemistry as well as one (1) of the other two (2) subjects.
6). FUDMA requires Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics or Physics.
7). UNIBEN accepts Biology, Physics or Chemistry, and Mathematics.
8). TASUED requires Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and Geography/Physics.
9). UNIMAID requires Biology and any two (2) Science Subjects.
10) UNILAG accepts Biology English Language and any two (2) of Chemistry, Physic, and Mathematics.
O’Level Subject Combination & Requirements
UTME candidates and direct entry candidates (In most cases) are required to have not less than five (5) SSC credit passes in the required O’Level subjects before they can be qualified to apply for this course. Also note that the O’Level subjects are not limited to only WAEC, but also include NECO, GCE, etc. Below are the required O’level subjects for Education and Biology.
1). Biology.
2). Chemistry.
3). Mathematics.
4). English Language.
5). And one (1) other subject.
WAIVER/SPECIAL CONSIDERATION
1). OOU and MAUTECH accept a pass in the English Language.
2). IMSU accepts Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics/Physics.
3). UNN and AAUA accept ‘O’ Level pass in Mathematics or its equivalent.
4). EBSU requires five (5) SSC credit passes which must include English Language, Mathematics, and three (3) other science subjects.
5). UNIUYO accepts ‘O’ Level credit pass in the English Language.
6). BU doesn’t accept Agricultural Science in place of another Science subject.
7). DELSU accepts SSC ‘O’ Level with credit passes in at least five (5) subjects including Biology, English Language, Chemistry or Geography, and Mathematics.
8). TASUED requires 5 ‘O’ Level credit passes at one sitting or 6 ‘O’ Level credit passes at two (2) sittings and they must include Biology, Mathematics, English Language, Chemistry, and Geography or Physics.
9). ABU accepts:
i). TC II requires two (2) other relevant Science subjects.
ii). Five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in Biology, English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, and one (1) other subject from Geography or Physics.
10). OAU accepts five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes that must include Biology, English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, and one (1) other subject.
11). UMYU requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes that should include Biology, Mathematics, English Language, and any other two (2) Science subjects.
12). AAUA requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes to include Biology, Mathematics, English Language, and any 2 of Chemistry, Agricultural Science, and Physics.
13). FUDMA requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes that must include Biology, English Language, Chemistry, Mathematics, and anyone (1) of Geography, Physics, Agricultural Science, or Health Science. They also accept a pass in Physics.
14). UNIOSUN accepts five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in Biology, Mathematics, English Language, and two (2) other relevant Science subjects which must not be in more than two (2) sittings.
15). UNILAG requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in Chemistry, Mathematics, English Language, and any two (2) of Biology, Physics, Integrated Science, Agricultural Science, and Animal Husbandry/Fisheries.
16). LCU requires ‘O’ Level credit passes at SSC or its equivalent in Biology, English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, and any other subject.
Direct Entry Admission Requirements
Please be informed that if you don’t want to apply to study Education and Biology through UTME, then you have to fulfill the direct entry admission requirements listed below.
1). NCE/’A’ Level passes in Biology and one (1) other Science subjects.
WAIVER/ SPECIAL CONSIDERATION
1). UDUSOK – same as for Educ./Chemistry.
2). UNICAL accepts NCE credit or merit in Biology and one (1) other science subject.
3). UDUSOK and MAUTECH require an ‘O’ Level’ pass in Physics or Mathematics.
4). UNIABUJA, BSU, ABSU, AND IMSU require NCE, not below merit.
5). EKSU accepts a pass in NCE General English in place of an ‘O’ Level credit in the English Language.
6). ADSU accepts NCE/HND merit/credit in relevant programs or subjects.
7). ATBU accepts an NCE pass and you must have not less than five (5) years of teaching experience.
8). BU requires an ‘A’ Level, IJMB/ND/NCE, or its equivalent in Biology, Chemistry, and Botany.
9). NSUK accepts ND in Science Education from ABU as well as any other recognized institution.
10). AAUA requires three (3) NCE merit in Education, Biology, and 1 relevant teaching Science subject.
11). FUTMINNA and RSUST accept ND/HND lower credit and NCE merit plus four (4) relevant UTME subjects.
12). UNILAG requires NCE credit/merit in Biology and other Science subjects. They also accept very good passes in the following JUPEB subject which includes Biology, Physics, and Chemistry in addition to the UTME requirements.
13). UNIJOS accepts NCE General English in place of ‘O’ Level English Language and Physics/Geography as a Science subject.
14). DELSU accepts:
i). At least merit passes and above in Biology at NCE or above in either Geography or Chemistry.
ii). Merit in DELSU Diploma in Biology Education.
15). UNIBEN requires ‘A’ Level passes with two (2) or three (3) NCE merit which should include Biology in addition to three (3) or two (2) ‘O’ Level credit passes which must include English Language at one (1) sitting.
16). UNIOSUN accepts NCE credit.
17). ABU accepts ‘A’ Level /NCE/IJMB passes with a ‘C’ grade in Biology and Education.
18). EBSU accepts:
i). Two ‘A’ Level passes in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer, Integrated Science, or Mathematics.
ii). OND/NCE and HND with a minimum of Upper Credit and Merit respectively.
19). UMYU requires two (2) ‘A’ Level credit passes in Biology and Physics or Chemistry, upper credit in ND, or Credit in NCE.
20). OAU accepts two (2) NCE credit/merit or ‘A’ Level passes in Biology, Zoology, or Botany and one (1) other Science or professional subject, NCE credit/merit or ‘A’ Level pass in Agricultural Science double major or combined with any teaching/professional subject.
21). TASUED accepts two (2) NCE Science subjects/’A’ Level passes which must include Biology. ND/HND upper credit in the following specialization:
i). Science Laboratory Technology-option in Biology, Microbiology, and Chemistry.
ii). Biochemistry, Anatomy, and Physiology.
iii). Food Technology.
22) IAUE requires ‘A’ Level passes in Biology/Botany or Zoology and Physics or Chemistry. They also accept NCE OR ND credits
23). MAKURDI accepts ND upper credit in relevant programs plus UTME requirements.
24). FUDMA requires two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Botany/Biology/Zoology and Chemistry. They also accept ND/NCE with good grades in any relevant subjects/programs.
25). SSU accepts:
i). IJMB passes in two (2) relevant subjects in addition to UTME requirements.
ii). ND/HND credit in relevant programs into 100 levels.
