Should I Always Request Indexing After Updating Posts?
Many of us request indexing each time we make slight changes to our blog posts. After doing this for a very long time, you begin to wonder whether it is necessary to submit articles to Google for indexing every time you update your posts.
It is true that changes made to your blog posts don’t reflect on Google immediately until you manually submit the post for indexing. However, it is not necessary to submit articles to Google each time update is made. Allow Google to notice some of them.

There are cases when you should submit your post to Google after updating and cases where it isn’t necessary at all. Just don’t abuse the Google Search Console (Webmaster Tool).
If you just change some words in the article, made some corrections to grammar, added pictures, switching paragraphs, etc then there is no need to request indexing. Simply clear your cache and your visitors will see the changes.
However, if you have posts that are date sensitive and you change the date, eg from “Jamb 2022” to “Jamb 2023” and actually change most of the content, then you can resubmit the post to Google for Indexing.
The more you submit posts without making necessary updates, the more you dilute the relevance of the content. I was a victim of this. Google has a way of paying you for your sins.
For new articles, feel free to submit to Google. You can see how to submit articles to Google using the new Search Console here. On the other hand, not all new posts deserve to be submitted manually. You can let Google crawl and index them at their own will.
That’s all for now. Feel free to let me know how you feel using the comment box and don’t fail to share this article with friends.
