The AIG Public Leaders Program (AIG PLP)
The AIG Public Leaders Programme (AIG PLP) presents an outstanding opportunity for emerging African public sector leaders to enhance their leadership skills and gain the knowledge required to drive change in their respective countries. In partnership with the University of Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Government, the program provides an immersive, world-class executive education experience led by renowned public policy experts and educators.
AIG Public Leaders Programme Programme Design and Objectives
Designed for senior public leaders and those transitioning into senior leadership roles in the public sector within the next three to seven years, the AIG PLP aims to accelerate skill development through engaging classroom discussions, practical exercises, simulations, and group work. The program’s goal is to empower participants with the necessary skills to cultivate transformative cultures of excellence, effectiveness, and integrity within their institutions and the broader public sector.
Key Skills Developed
The AIG PLP focuses on cultivating critical skills such as:
- Effective communication
- Harnessing digital technology
- Reducing cognitive bias in decision-making
- Strengthening organizational effectiveness
- Maintaining personal integrity
Throughout the program, participants are encouraged to apply the skills and conceptual frameworks learned in each session through project work and group reflection. Following weeks of blended teaching, participants are given time to develop a capstone project, enabling them to integrate key learnings from the program into their daily operations.
AIG Public Leaders Programme Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the AIG PLP, applicants must:
- Be citizens of any African country and actively work within the public sector in Africa
- Have a minimum of seven years of active service in the public sector
- Be at a Directorate level
- Must not exceed 50 years of age
