Available Programmes

Your Pathway to Literary Mastery

The UofA offers the following postgraduate programmes:

• Postgraduate Diploma in Creative Writing (PGD)
• Master’s Degree in Creative Writing (MA)
• Doctorate Degree in Creative Writing (PhD)

Admission Requirements

What You Need to Apply

For PGD and MA Programmes

• You will need a BA or BSc degree with at least a 3.0 GPA.
• Your degree should be in English, Literature, Theatrical Arts, Linguistics, Journalism, Mass and Public Communication, History, Art History, Religious Studies, Philosophy, or Education.
• A 60% score in research work is expected.
• Social science degree holders or those with an HND can apply if they demonstrate some experience in creative writing.

For the PhD Programme

• A relevant Master of Arts or Master of Fine Arts degree is required.
• Your postgraduate degree must come with a 3.0 GPA and a 60% score on research work.

Duration of Programmes

• 8 months for the Postgraduate Diploma.
• 2 years for the Master’s Degree.
• 3-4 years for the Doctorate Degree.
