The Sustainable Development Centre (SDC) at the University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) invites applications for its postgraduate programmes for the 2026/2027 Batch A, Stream 8.
Candidates who want postgraduate study in sustainable development, climate and society, peace and conflict, or migration have doctorate, master’s and PGD routes to consider. The centre also lists full-time and part-time options for its master’s and postgraduate diploma programmes.

UNIABUJA SDC admission requirements
Applicants must meet the entry conditions set by the centre. The requirements cover O’Level results, degree or diploma status, and NYSC evidence.
Candidates need five credit passes in relevant O’Level subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, at no more than two sittings.
For master’s study, applicants must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline, with a grade not below Second-Class Honours Lower Division. For PGD admission, the centre may accept candidates with a Third-Class Degree or Higher National Diploma at Lower Credit from a recognised school.
Applicants also need an NYSC discharge certificate or exemption letter.
Doctor of Sustainable Development requirement
Candidates applying for the Doctor of Sustainable Development must hold a Master’s Degree in relevant fields of Science, Social and Management Science, Humanities, Education, or Environmental Science.
The programme runs for 36 months.
Duration of UNIABUJA SDC programmes
The duration depends on the programme level and study mode. Full-time study takes a shorter period, while part-time study gives candidates a longer academic window.
Master’s degree programme
- Full-time: minimum of four semesters and maximum of six semesters
- Part-time: minimum of six semesters and maximum of eight semesters
Postgraduate diploma programmes
- Full-time: minimum of two semesters and maximum of four semesters
- Part-time: minimum of four semesters and maximum of six semesters
