Staff and students of University of Cross River State, UNICROSS, are marking a key school milestone after the National Universities Commission, NUC, released accreditation results for programmes presented in November and December 2025.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Francisca Bassey, announced the results on Thursday, 23 April 2026, during an emergency Senate meeting at the Calabar campus.
UNICROSS NUC Accreditation Results
Professor Francisca Bassey said all academic programmes presented for accreditation received full accreditation, except one programme that received interim accreditation.
The Department of Childhood Education received interim accreditation.

Departments With Previous Accreditation Setbacks
The Vice Chancellor gave further details on two departments.
Urban and Regional Planning had been denied accreditation twice before the latest result. The department could not admit new students during that period.
Forestry and Wildlife had also faced two earlier accreditation setbacks.
Both departments are now among the programmes that received full accreditation.
Top Scores In The Accreditation Exercise
Professor Bassey also named the departments with the highest scores.

Plant Science Biology recorded the highest score. Animal and Environmental Biology came next, while Entrepreneurship Studies placed third.
Vice Chancellor Commends Departments And Staff
Professor Francisca Bassey commended Heads of Departments and staff of the fully accredited departments for their work during the exercise.
She gave special recognition to Dr Samuel Osim, Head of the Department of Plant Science Biology, for his leadership.
Support Promised For Plant Science Biology
Following the score recorded by Plant Science Biology, the Vice Chancellor pledged support for the department.
The pledge covers:
- Full upgrade of the department’s laboratory facilities
- Furnishing of the Head of Department’s office to his taste
- A laptop for the personal ownership of the Head of Department
