University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) Postpones 2025/2026 First Semester Exams: New Dates and Easter Break Schedule

Updated: March 4, 2026 by Ayo Faith

University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) has notified students, staff, and members of the university community that the first semester examinations for the 2025/2026 academic session have been postponed. The exams were earlier fixed to begin on Monday, 23 February 2026, but UNICROSS has moved the timetable forward.

What changed

UNICROSS shifted the first semester examination start date from Monday, 23 February 2026 to Monday, 9 March 2026. That new date now stands as the official commencement.

New UNICROSS first semester exam timetable

The examinations will:

  • Start: Monday, 9 March 2026
  • End: Saturday, 25 April 2026

The calendar is longer now; students and departments need to work with the revised schedule.

Easter break during the examinations

UNICROSS has also stated that the examinations will pause for the Easter break.

  • Break: Thursday, 2 April 2026 to Monday, 6 April 2026
  • Exams resume: Tuesday, 7 April 2026

After the break, the papers continue on Tuesday, 7 April 2026 and run on as planned until the stated end date.

Reasons UNICROSS gave for the rescheduling

UNICROSS approved the change to give students more time to meet key requirements tied to the examination period. The reasons listed include allowing students to:

  • Complete all outstanding course registration processes
  • Enable newly admitted students to finalise their documentation
  • Obtain their University Identification Cards, which are mandatory for entry into examination halls

An ID card is not a suggestion; it is a requirement for access into the exam hall, and the university has linked the new timing to that demand.
