Jamb Accredited Centres

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has disclosed that 770 CBT Centres have been accredited so far for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination. More centres are being added yearly while some are removed for various offences.

 JAMB CENTERS  

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, or JAMB for short, is a Nigerian organization that’s in charge of admitting students into tertiary (higher) education. They organize an exam called the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) which students need to pass to go to universities or other higher education institutions. One of the key aspects of conducting this exam is having places where students can come and take it. These places are known as CBT (Computer Based Test) Centres.

Recently, JAMB shared some information about these CBT Centres. They said that they have given approval, or “accredited,” 770 centres across the country for the UTME.

This accreditation means that these centres have met certain standards set by JAMB, ensuring they are good places for students to take their exams. This is important because it ensures that the examination process is fair and that the centres have the necessary facilities for students to take their exams.

Now, the number of accredited centres isn’t fixed. In fact, it changes every year. JAMB has a system of adding more centres and also removing some based on different reasons. For example, if a centre is found to be engaging in activities that go against JAMB’s guidelines, like cheating or malpractice, they might lose their accreditation. On the other hand, new centres that meet the required standards are added to the list. This way, JAMB is able to maintain a good standard for where and how the exams are conducted.

Every year, there’s an effort to increase the number of accredited centres. This is done to make sure that more students can easily find a centre near them to take the exam. It’s part of JAMB’s effort to make the examination process smoother and more accessible for everyone.
