Modified On Mar 21, 2025

I was preparing to Watch a Live Event from Nigeria. The Event Time was given in ET and PT. I began to contemplate which of the Time (ET or PT) is used in Nigeria. Now, if you are wondering which time we use in Nigeria whether ET or PT or… then this guide is for you.

What is ET and what does PT stand for? ET stands for Eastern Time while PT stands for Pacific Time. They are both time Zones. However, neither of them is used in Nigeria. But you can covert ET and PT to Nigeria Time Zone (WAT) or Nigeria Standard Time (GMT +1) to know what time it is in Nigeria.

Nigeria Time Versus ET And PT

Nigeria Time Zone is abbreviated as WAT (West Africa Time) and Nigeria Standard Time is GMT/UTC + 1 hour. Nigeria Standard Time is 1 hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time ( GMT+1 ).

Greenwich Mean Time is the mean solar time at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, London, reckoned from midnight.

ET is often used to denote the local time in areas observing either EASTERN STANDARD TIME (EST) or EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME (EDT) while PT is often used to denote the local time in areas observing either Pacific Standard Time (PST) or Pacific Daylight Time (PDT).
