Benson Idahosa University (BIU), previously named Christian Faith University, is a private university located in Benin City, Nigeria.

The university was renamed Benson Idahosa University in 1998, in honor of a charismatic Pentecostal minister from Benin City, named Archbishop Benson Idahosa.

In 2002, the National Universities Commission (NUC) presented the required license to BIU, to operate as a private university in the country. BIU is the only African university that has international membership with the United States National Academy of Investors.

In 1993, Benson Idahosa commenced operations as Christian Faith University-Institute of Continuous Learning at the Ugbor Campus. Candidates who successfully got admitted into the institution were admitted into Management Sciences and Basic Sciences Faculties.

Candidates seeking admission to study law at BIU can apply through JAMB or Direct Entry.

Candidates, applying through JAMB, must fulfill the following requirements:

• • Must possess 5 credits in General Certificate of Education (including Mathematics, English Language, and Economics). This must be obtained at not more than 2 sittings.
  • Must possess 5 credits in NECO in relevant subjects; including English Language, Mathematics, and Economics. This must be obtained at not more than 2 sittings.

• Must possess 5 credits in WASC/SSCE in relevant subjects; including English Language, Mathematics, and Economics. This must be obtained at not more than 2 sittings.
• A credit pass in Commerce can be accepted in replacement of Economics.

Direct Entry

In addition to the requirements under JAMB, candidates should also possess any of the following requirements:

• • A minimum of Upper Credit in a relevant discipline for an Ordinary National Diploma (OND). This should be obtained from a recognized College of Technology or Polytechnic.
  • Diploma Certificate from a recognized university. Candidates should possess a minimum of Lower Credit or Merit in a relevant discipline.

• Higher School Certificate or General Certificate of Education with a minimum of two papers obtained in one sitting. One of these papers should be Mathematics, Economics, or Business Management.
