Day 1: Investiture of the Chancellor

The convocation will commence with a prestigious event on Thursday, 11th April 2024, beginning at 9:30 AM at the Convocation Arena. The highlight of the day will be the investiture of the Chancellor, His Royal Majesty OMO N’OBA N’EDO, UKU AKPOLOKPOLO Ewuare II, the revered Oba of Benin. This ceremony marks a pivotal occasion in the university’s history, signifying a renewal of leadership and a strengthened commitment to academic excellence.

Day 2: Convocation Lecture

On Friday, 12th April 2024, activities will continue from 11:00 AM at the same venue. The day is set aside for the Convocation Lecture, a significant academic event that promises to engage and challenge both students and attendees. The theme for this year’s lecture is “Is Western Education Still Relevant for Africa?”, a question that resonates with current educational debates across the continent. The lecture will be delivered by Professor Elifas Tozo Bisanda, Vice-Chancellor of the Open University of Tanzania, who is renowned for his insightful perspectives on education in Africa.

 

 

Day 3: Awarding of Degrees

The culmination of the convocation events will be on Saturday, 13th April 2024, starting at 10:00 AM.
