Although, critics are beginning to frown at grading new students or eliminating the grading system to other alternative means for student assessment. This is a result of the traditional bias that comes with the grading system yet educational institutions places so much value on grades.

What Is a Grade?

According to the University of South Carolina, a grade is used to evaluate and provide feedback on student work. It is what instructors use to assess what information, concepts, and skills students successfully understood or not and which ones they have not. It is also the standard way of communicating students’ performance to third parties, which includes the students themselves.

What Is the Process of Grading Students?

Grading is the standardized way that involves the process of evaluating student work, effort, understanding of course content, skill development, and progress of a particular course. To assess a student’s knowledge generally on a course, a grade is what is awarded based on their performance.

The learning process of a student begins from the resumption of a course to lectures designed to meet the course objectives. Other course knowledge inputs such as assignments, and presentations are also designed to promote the course objectives.
