Requirements To Study Philosophy At UNIBEN
The University of Benin is a federal government-owned university funded and managed by the federal government of Nigeria. The university was founded in 1970. University of Benin (UNIBEN) is a research university located in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria.

This is to inform the general public and all aspiring students of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) that the admission requirements for the Department of Philosophy have been published.
The admission requirements include O’level Subject combinations, JAMB UTME Subject combinations, and School and Departmental Cut-Off Marks.
The University has a diverse student population with students from different parts of the country and age brackets. The University of Benin courses cut across various levels in agriculture, science, etc.

Entry Requirements
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Philosophy include the following:
- Five (5) SSCE credit passes to include the English language and four (4) other relevant subjects.
Special Consideration (Waiver) Remarks
- UNIBEN requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes or five (5) Merit passes in TC II at not more than two (2) sittings. Subjects should include English Language and any two (2) other subjects from Arts or Social Sciences. At least an ‘O’ level pass in Mathematics is required.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB.
- English Language
- Any three (3) subjects
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Philosophy if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;
- Any two (2) ‘A’ level passes.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into UNIBEN for the 2022/2023 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 200 or above in your JAMB result.
