General DELSU Admission Requirements for 2023/2024 Session
- Aspirants of DELSU must have, at least, 5 credit (C) passes in relevant subjects in any O’Level results at not more than two sittings. The subjects should include English Language and Mathematics for all courses
- Candidates must be 16 years of age and above at the time of admission.
- Direct entry students aspiring for admission into DELSU must have five credit passes, two at Advanced Level and three at O/L including English Language provided the subjects at both levels are not counted twice.
- For Post graduate students, you need a Merit passes in the two major teaching subjects at the NCE with passes at credit level in three other subjects at the ordinary level or its equivalent, including English Language and Mathematics.
- DELSU Accepts second choice candidates for admission into her various faculties.

1. DELSU Wasn’t Always a State University: This school has always been a centre of learning and education, but it wasn’t always a tertiary institution. During the colonial era, the structures that would end up becoming Delta State University started as a teachers’ training college. By 1971, It became a college of education. This would last slightly over a decade. In 1981, the college became affiliated to the University of Benin.
In 1985, it was absorbed into Bendel State University and served as the faculty of education. In 1991, Edo and Delta state became two separate entities, hence the need arose for a state university in the newly formed Delta state. On 30th of April 1992, these structures were converted and recognized as Delta State University by Olorogun Felix Ibru, who was the Executive Governor.
