Where is the best place to go for IT in Nigeria? This is the top question of every University or Polytechnic student in Nigeria who is due for Industrial Training. This is because Internship or Industrial training is compulsory for every student in Nigeria.

Now, you may be wondering, why have schools made it compulsory for students to go on Industrial Training (IT) Industrial training helps you to develop yourself and also make you go deep into your career of choice. Industrial training exposes you to the practical world.

Apart from the fact that Industrial Training help exposes you to the labor market, it also contributes immensely to your CGPA. In some departments, Industrial training contributes as high as 6 credits to GPA and lasts up to 6 months.

Everyone wants to work and even go for IT placement in oil companies (Even those who are not studying courses related to this field). After all, we all love good things. One of the reasons people love oil companies is that they pay very well.

If you have made up your mind on this, there are many top oil companies where you can do your internship in Nigeria.

The best or most popular oil companies to do your internship in Nigeria are Shell, Chevron, Snepco, NNPC, NLNG, Total, and many more.

All you need is to submit your letter to them for consideration. These companies give priority to those to who they have offered scholarships; others can also do internships there as well. You may be lucky to be chosen.

TELECOM COMPANIES

Telecommunication companies are pretty cool areas where you should consider going for industrial training. It exposes you to a whole lot of training and amazing information (Data and information transmission would be at your fingertip).

Popular telecom companies in Nigeria are MTN, Globacom, Airtel Nigeria, 9Mobile, Integrated Telekom & Networks Limited, and so on.

WORKSHOPS OR CONSTRUCTIONS

So many people are like, I want to use this IT period to learn “work”. In this case, you could look for any opening related to what you want to learn around.

You could go to shops where repairs of electrical and electronic goods are done, you could also decide to do your training in a Mechanic workshop.

For those interested in construction, you could go to sites where massive building projects are being carried out or simply volunteer to join those doing road construction. Bridge construction is also there.

The truth of the matter is that there are 101 places where you do workshop practice or construction work. just find a placement best fit for you and stick to it.

INSTITUTIONS

The term “Institution” is very broad. You could either go for teaching practice in schools or do your internship in other areas as long as the institution is concerned. An institution can be public, educational, or charitable.
