International Breweries Kickstart Program (2023)

The International Breweries Foundation is an arm of International Breweries Plc, (a proud part of the AB InBev Group) with the objective of delivering impactful, developmental, and sustainable projects. Kickstart is an initiative of the Foundation and focuses on enterprise growth and development for young entrepreneurs. The program supports youth-owned businesses through the provision of training, access to capital (grants), and mentoring.

Kickstart is also available within other countries in Africa, as an initiative of the Africa Zone of the AB InBev Group. The program hitherto has been successfully implemented in South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland, and Tanzania. In Nigeria, the program started in 2016 and has run three editions in the South West and South East region. With effect from 2019, Kickstart has become a national intervention in Nigeria, now open to youths in the six geo-political zones of the country.

The KickStart program is a competition for budding entrepreneurs and innovators aged between 18 and 35 providing them with business-skills training, development support, mentorship, and a chance to come away with a grant fund. The ultimate goal of the program is to help build a young prosperous society by creating a culture of entrepreneurship among the youth, thereby reducing youth unemployment for indigenes in the South West. The KickStart program is one major initiative that would turn around the lives of youths in the area and improve the economic prosperity of the South Western Region.

Aim and Benefits of the IBPLC Kickstart Program

At the grand event, winners will be announced and presented with their prizes. It will be a high-profile event with government functionaries and business persons in attendance.

Successful applicants will then undergo intensive business training sessions for one (1) week.

The modules for the training will include:

  • Human Resources
  • Business Plan Writing
  • Book Keeping
  • Income Statements

At the end of the training, applicants will be given one month to write the final competing business plan which will be submitted in person at the Head Office in Ilesha, Osun State.

Requirements for IBPLC Kickstart Program Qualification

  • The competition is open ONLY to South Westerners of 18 to 35 years who live or have their business within the South Western region.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 and at most 35 years with valid identification (e.g. National I.D.; Drivers Licence; International Passport; Voters Registration, etc.) as of the last day of the application period.
  • He or she must be willing to operate the business on a full-time basis.
  • Have an innovative business idea in need of start-up capital.
  • Or already have an existing small business needing capital to expand operations.
  • Energetic and entrepreneurial in approach.
  • Must be able to read and write.

Interview Date, Process, and Venue for IBPLC Kickstart Program

A number of top entries will be selected based on the merit and quality of their business case by a team of seasoned judges. Each form will be scored against the “Screening Sheet”. The sheet will be used to grade and rank all submitted application forms, and the score gotten from the submission will be debated by the judges to ensure alignment and common ratings. For clarity of purpose and fairness to all applicants, the Screening sheet is an internal document. Scores are not shared externally.
