Requirements To Study Social Works

Social work is a profession concerned with helping families, individuals, communities, and groups and enhancing their individual and collective well-being, (Wikipedia).

Below are the UTME and Direct Entry admission requirements. We urge candidates to carefully go through this page to gain all the prerequisites required to successfully proceed with your UTME/Direct Entry registration.

O’Level (UTME) Subjects & Requirements

We usually inform candidates about the importance of possessing the right O’Level subjects. You are expected to have at least (5) SSC credits which must include:

1). English Language.
2). Mathematics.
3). And three (3) subjects in Social Sciences or Arts.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION AND REMARK

1). UNN requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language and any four (4) Social Science or Arts Subjects.

2). REDEEMERS requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes which should include Mathematics, English Language, and three (3) subjects in Social Sciences or Arts.

3). UNICAL is the same as Sociology.

4). UNILAG requires ‘O’ level credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, and any two (2) of Government/History, Economics, Geography, and Civic Education and one of Literature in English, Christian Religious Studies/ Islamic Studies, any Nigerian Language and Biology.

5). UNIBEN requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes to include Mathematics, English Language, Economics, Government, Geography, or any other Social Science subject.

JAMB Subject Combination For Social Work

If you have been searching for the proper JAMB subject combination social works, then you have landed in the right place. Please be reminded that in UTME English Language is compulsory for social work. Below are the other three (3) subjects required to study Social Work:

1). Mathematics.
2). Economics/Geography.
3). And any other subject.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION AND REMARK

1). UNN and UNICAL require any three (3) Arts or Social Science Subjects.
2). UNILAG requires two (2) Social Science subjects and one Arts subject. It also accepts Mathematics.

3). UNIBEN requires two (2) Social Science subjects and any other subject.

Direct Entry Admission Requirements for Social Work

Candidates who are not willing to apply for admission through UTME should ensure they meet the direct entry admission requirements for Social Work.

i). Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in any subject.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION AND REMARK

1). UNIBEN accepts the following in addition to the UTME requirements either:
a). Two (2) ‘A’ level passes to include Government or History.
b). ND (upper credit) in relevant programs which must be from a recognized Polytechnic/College of Technology.
c). HND (lower credit) in relevant programs from a recognized college of Technology or polytechnic.
d). NCE credit in a Social Science subject which must be from a recognized College of Education. In addition, candidates should have at least overall merit.

2). UNN accepts two (2) ‘A’ level passes in addition to the UTME requirements.

3). UNILAG accepts the following:
a). Very good passes in three (3) ’A’-level/JUPEB subjects which should include any three (3) of Economics, Geography, History, Government, and Christian Religious Studies/ Islamic Studies.
b). ND Social Development and Administration (SDA) with one-year post-qualification experience.
