GMAT Stands for Graduate Management Admission Test. It is a computer-based test intended to assess certain analytical, writing, quantitative, verbal, and reading skills in written English for use in admission to a graduate management program, such as an MBA.

GMAT requires knowledge of certain specific grammar and knowledge of certain specific algebra, geometry, and arithmetic. It is a computer adaptive test which means candidates will get one question at a time and depending on the accuracy of the previous answer, the difficulty level of the next question will be ascertained.

The Structure of GMAT

  • Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA section): measures your ability to think critically and communicate your ideas.
  • Integrated Reasoning (IR section): measures your ability to analyze data and interpret information displayed in varied formats.
  • Quantitative Reasoning (Quant section): measures your ability to reason mathematically, solve quantitative problems, and interpret graphic data.
  • Verbal Reasoning (Verbal section): evaluates your reading comprehension skills, editing abilities, and whether you can make sense of written arguments.

  1. Review and study one section of the test at a time.
  2. Review basic mathematics skills.
  3. Improve your speed because time management is important to complete the exam.
  4. Review the types of questions in the Analytical Writing Assessment, Integrated Reasoning, Verbal, and Quantitative Reasoning sections.
  5. Practice with real GMAT questions, answers, and explanations using the GMAT  Official Guide.
  6. Review the GMAT  Official Guide Verbal Review or the GMAT  Official Guide Quantitative Review.
  7. Target your preparation for a specific section of the exam.

How To Study and Pass GMAT

  1. Refresh yourself on the basics.
  2. Practice pacing since GMAT is timed.
