MCB 415: IMMUNOLOGY (4 CREDITS) 2ND SEMESTER
Fundamental concept of immunity humoral and cellular product of immunity structure synthesis and functions of antibodies, cell of the immune system. The complement system advantages and disadvantage of immunity hypersensitivity and immunology phenomena immunologic tolerance .Autoimmunity transplanting immunity, immunology of reproduction and immunology.
MCB 420: PATHOGENIC MICROBIOLOGY I (4 CREDITS) 2ND SEMESTER
Principles of infection immunology and serology .Aetiology epidemiology, pathogenic mechanism, clinical symptoms. Laboratory diagnosis prophylactic and therapeutic procedure, control and prevention of selected infection viral bacterial protozoa and fungal disease of man and animals especially those prevalent in Africa.
MCB 421: INDUSTRAIL MICROBIOLOGY (5 CREDITS) 2ND SEMESTER
Nature of industrial microbiology and some microorganism important in the manufacture of industrial products some general principles of industrial fermentations.
Exploitation of microorganism by man in industrial and food affairs brewing production of wine burukutu, pito and oyokpo production, use of microbes as food for human (single cell protein) and steroid transformations antibiotics fermentations.
Vitamin and amino acid production microbial enzymes of industrial importance .microbial deterioration of pulpwood paper and paint petroleum microbiology (to include the use of microbes in prospecting for oil in the industrial waste by cultivation of yeast waste disposal systems immobilized enzymes. Current development in fermentation traditional fermentations. (Three lectures and 2 practical/week)
MCB 422: PATHOGENIC MICROBIOLOGY II (3 CREDITS) 2ND SEMESTER
