Jamb Exam

Modified On Sep 20, 2022

“I have failed Waec and Jamb so many times, I don’t think I can further my Education”. This is the heartbreaking confession I get from so many bright persons who Jamb and Waec have frustrated. Don’t stop at Secondary School.

It is very painful when you do everything within your ability to gain admission and it doesn’t work out. The anger doubles when you see those who you are far more intelligent than pass their Waec and gain admission.

Instructions end in the classroom but education ends the day you die. It doesn’t matter how many times you have written Waec or Jamb and may want to give up this year; the good news is that you can still further your education if you mean it. Secondary school education is never enough. Keep on keeping on…

Below are 5 reasons you shouldn’t stop your education at the secondary school level…

To Boost Your Confidence

Your competence determines your confidence. Stopping your education at the secondary school level is not what you would really be proud of. In most cases, you will be ashamed to tell people that you are a secondary school dropout.

STUDY SMARTER

Other persons may feel that you are okay without school. Friends will let you know that you are doing better than people with BSc and MSc. However, you still may not have confidence in your office or around graduates.

Education Makes You More Qualified

Most medium to high paying jobs in Nigeria requires you to be either an HND, BSC or MSC holder. Except you are self-employed, you won’t have a tangible thing to bring to the table in terms of income as a secondary school dropout.

It is true that many companies employ based on what you can offer and not certificates. Nevertheless, there are many situations where a certificate will be a means to measure your qualification or promotion.

Respect From Society

Society today places high value on BSC and discriminates against someone who is not properly educated. Even your parents will not be happy with you if you have decided not to further your education. You need to make your parents and society proud.

When you have money, people will hail you, “worship you” and respect you. However, there is this value that comes with education. It is easy for people to be convinced that you earn what you got.

An Improved Lifestyle

Money can buy you many things but not value.

It is what you know that determines your lifestyle. An average University graduate has a more mature behaviour than someone who stopped at the secondary school level. Remember, it is what you have in your head that takes you ahead.

It is true that many graduates behave like those who didn’t attend school. However, a real graduate will command good character and lifestyle that would be lacking in an illiterate.

Improve Your Network

In my article on the five persons you need to be successful in life, I explained the fact that you need to come across certain persons to breakthrough.

You will find most of these persons in the college. University Education gives you the opportunity to mingle with persons that matter to your destiny.

Conclusion: It is imperative you further your education. Do not let situations beat you hands down and make you want to give up on education. You can still make it if you mean it.
